Worrying About Money Is a Habit You Can Change
It's tough to achieve the financial goals you want when you repeat a downtrodden, worrying mantra in your head all the time.
BY DR. MING CHEE
There are lots of reasons people worry. I remember always worrying about something when I was a child. If I wasn’t worrying about myself, I was worrying about others. It can become a pesky habit to always find something to worry about. Not surprisingly, money is a big source of worry to people whether they are lacking or not. Those ongoing thoughts can seem so natural, and logical. Mainly, because so many other people around us are worrying about money, too.
If you’re a person who finds themselves in this same boat, I have a few tips to help you change your worry thoughts to happy thoughts. It involves creating a new habit with visualization and intention.
Worrying is a counter intention. Worrying about something is slowing down what you really want to manifest. If your worry is that my money is going to run out—what a powerful (negative) thought you are telling yourself. Because when you worry, you are actually focusing on something that is unwanted. In fact, worrying is a very effective form of visualization. By worrying about money, that thought produces a negative resistance which keeps you from the good stuff.
So, having a conscious awareness is key. Immerse yourself in a new reality by setting a firm intention on how you want to see your money situation. This will bring you into a new state of consciousness. Stay there. And when you find yourself worrying, because you still will at first, ask yourself: Is this serving you? Is it fear based? Is it a negative thought? The answers will immediately bring you into awareness that you are following the old thought patterns of worrying about money, and you will have the opportunity to swiftly change your thoughts and turn them into sweet intentions.
If you find yourself becoming impatient about changing your money worries, know that this will also delay your manifestations because it stems from the fact that you are recognizing what you don’t have. Leave any expectations out of the picture. Just intend what you want and revel in the feeling of having it. Do not think about how it will happen, when it will happen, and more importantly do not doubt that it will happen. Focus on recognizing only the good things in life.
Think about it this way: What if circumstances were to change and you didn’t need that certain amount of money that you thought you "needed" after all? Or what if you didn’t even need that certain amount of money to get "that thing done" in the long run? Anything could happen for the better, and all this precious time you spent it worrying about money. Losing sleep, depriving yourself of joy, being unhappy—all that time misspent worrying when the solution is being worked out for you all along. Because when you take control of your worrisome thoughts and replace them with good-feeling thoughts, you start a new money pattern—a happy one, a confident one. One you can always count on.
Let’s turn our focus on something that gives us happiness. Let’s get so good at it where happiness becomes our effective form of visualization and intention that creates an invitation for everlasting abundance in our lives.
