Annadel Estate Winery Rises From Ruins
A personal tour and taste await at the rejuvenated Annadel Estate Winery.

Being a boutique winery, producing around 2,500 cases per year, also affords us the luxury of making vintage specific, as well as vineyard specific, wines.”
From the ruins of a 19th century winery and 20 acres of neglected vineyards and rose gardens, Annadel Estate Winery has become one of Sonoma Valley’s standout wineries, offering an utterly unique, private wine tasting experience.

The Annadel Estate was reawakened in 2007 when Dean Bordigioni fell in love with the grounds: replete with old stone ruins, an abandoned farmhouse, quaint carriage house, and 20 acres of vineyards, heirloom roses, hydrangeas, and other flowers. In the six short years since, Annadel Estate Winery has literally risen from the ruins, both as a winery and as a unique and elegant venue for weddings and events.

The California property’s splendid beauty is enough to set it apart, but the wines take the experience even further. "My winemaking philosophy is pretty simple," Bordigioni says. "Farm or procure the finest grapes you can, keep your wine ‘clean’ by extensive sorting of matter other than grapes from the tank before fermentation, and then let the terroir speak for itself by keeping as hands-off as possible. Being a boutique winery, producing around 2,500 cases per year, also affords us the luxury of making vintage specific, as well as vineyard specific, wines. I feel it’s a more interesting, as well as pleasurable, approach to wine tasting."

The current portfolio consists of a fruit-forward Chardonnay; a delightful Zinfandel Rosé named Big Pink; a bold Zinfandel; and a few exceptional red blends, including Anni’s Blend, a beautifully balanced blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot.

Instead of operating a public tasting room with general hours, Annadel Estate Winery invites guests to make an appointment to visit the winery and tour its exquisite grounds. They’ll be treated to a private, personable tour as they learn about the estate’s history, and sample the exquisite wines in the 20s-era horse barn, now housing Bordigioni’s personal vintage motorcycle collection, or in some other impromptu spot, sure to create a wonderful, enduring memory.
