Going to your parents’ house for the holidays? Here’s why having sex in your old bedroom is the perfect way to de-stress.

"There’s something very naughty about having sex in [my husband’s] old bedroom," says Mary*, 26. "For some reason it always makes me fantasize that I’m in high school again and fooling around with a boy—or teacher or camp counselor—whatever! It always makes me feel like I’m 17 again and all those tingly ways fooling around used to feel like."
Ah, yes. Remember those tingly feelings? Back when just breathing on your neck was enough to get you excited? Having sex in your old bedroom is the perfect way to bring those old memories back—just keep from mentioning if any of them were actually created right there. No one wants to imagine all the old memories they might be rolling around in.
"Having sex in my parents’ house brings me back to my childhood, when I used to have to sneak around and [sex] was more interesting because I wanted it more and couldn’t have it," says Andy*, 29, who recalls a few memories he made of his own in his old bedroom. "On the way to my room there was a creak in the board, so we couldn’t be too loud because we had to listen for it. Once you heard the creak you had exactly five seconds to get done—exactly five seconds to pretend you were doing something else before my mom walked in."
The idea of getting caught may turn some people on, but for others it can put a damper on the mood. It can be hard to feel kinky when your father-in-law is drinking beer and eating deviled eggs in the room next to you. And the last thing you want is for your mother-in-law to investigate the creaking sounds coming from her son’s bedroom.
However, there’s something very thrilling about 'secretly' having sex in anyone’s house. Plus, it forces you to have sex in ways you probably haven’t done in years.
"Sex always feels so different when we do it at Andy’s parents’ house," says Mary. "It really forces us to slow down and to be quiet, instead of the loud, mattress-moving sex we usually have. It almost feels like I’m sleeping with a completely different person."
So the next time you find yourself facing a trip home for the holidays, be thankful for all the money you’ll be saving on a hotel room and for the chance to switch up your sex routine—and don’t forget to pack the lube.
